Just a short break of a couple of hours before the decathlon javelin gets underway. 16:13:46
Both Barroilhet and Sintnicolaas go out to 5.50m to end the decathlon pole vault. 16:13:27
The best ever pole vault clearance in an Olympic decathlon is 5.70m by USA's Tim Bright in 1988. 15:57:05
And Barroilhet goes clear at 5.40m - his second-best ever vault and just 5cm shy of the PB he set earlier this year. 15:55:47
Sintnicolaas and Barroilhet both clear 5.30m and will attempt 5.40m in the decathlon pole vault. 15:54:43
Ashton Eaton is happy with his 5.20m and will not attempt any higher heights, saving himself for the javelin. 15:41:18
5.20m now for Eaton. If he equals his PBs in last two events, he'd score 8994. But he could yet go higher in the pole vault. 15:28:56
5.10m for Eaton. Eelco Sintnicolaas, a 5.52m vaulter at best, has entered the competition at this height with a first-time clearance. 15:25:51
