I hope you enjoyed all of our updates from London 2012. Just four years to wait now until the next Olympics...! 13:15:37
A real shock result to bring the athletics to an end at the London 2012 Olympic Games. 13:14:53
Who would have predicted beforehand that Kenya or Ethiopia would not win gold in the marathon?! 13:14:06
A close finish for the next three spots as Keflezighi finishes fourth from dos Santos and Nakamoto 13:12:49
Kenya get two medals but not the one they were after. Kirui silver (2:08:27), Kipsang bronze (2:09:37). 13:11:52
Kiprotich wins! 2:08:01! 13:10:51
South Africa's Coolboy Ngamole (great name) has crashed out. But he looks anything but cool in this heat. 13:04:42
Kiprotich goes through 40km in 2:01:12, he's 19 seconds ahead of Kirui. Kipsang is 32 seconds behind Kirui. 13:03:30
Kiprotich is already smiling and pointing his finger in the air! 13:01:48
Just 3km of running left and Kiprotich looks very easy with a big lead. 13:00:28
Uganda has only one one previous Olympic gold in athletics - John Akii-Bua in 1972. 12:58:06
Mutai is now in second but a fair few seconds behind Kiprotich. Kipsang has slipped down to third. 12:57:30
Kiprotich now bursts back into the lead in spectacular fashion. He now has a sizeable gap on the Kenyan pair. 12:53:39
And is this a late charge from Keflezighi? 17th at halfway, 14th at 25km, 10th at 30km, now 6th at 35km. 12:52:20
dos Santos is 1:14 behind the leaders. Japan's Kentaro Nakamoto is less than a minute behind dos Santos in fifth. 12:51:41
All of a sudden Kiprotich looks like he might be slipping back behind Kirui and Kipsang. 12:48:32
1:46:03 for the leaders at 35km (2:07:52 pace). The pace has slowed a fair bit, but it hasn't affected their leading margin. 12:48:04
If Kiprotich finishes in the top three, he'll make history for Uganda. They've never before finished in the top-8 in an Olympic marathon. 12:40:29
Patrick Tambwe, one of the fastest Europeans in the field with a 2:07:30 PB, has also dropped out. 12:36:37
dos Santos has now passed Abshero and is around 30 seconds behind the leaders. 12:34:47
1:30:15 for the lead trio at 30km. That's about 1min slower than the equivalent split in Beijing. 12:32:31
Kirui was always going to be one of the big dangers. He's won the past two World Champs, so is used to peaking at this time of year. 12:23:52
And Kipsang has been caught. He's flanked by Kirui and Kiprotich. 12:21:33
A bit further back, Marilson dos Santos is running well in fifth. Still plenty of time for him to get into the top three. 12:20:31
All of a sudden Abshero has drifted back. Kirui and Kiprotich are side-by-side with Kipsang in their sights. 12:19:03
Kipsang's lead is now down to just seven seconds. 1:14:58 at 25km - that's exactly Olympic record pace (2:06:32). 12:17:32
Stephen Kiprotich's PB, 2:07:20, was set last year on his debut. He's currently going at 2:06:43 pace. 12:16:31
Stephen Kiprotich was 9th at the WC last year in his second ever marathon. He now has twice as much experience - this is his fourth marathon. 12:15:17
The chasers are quickly closing in on Kipsang though. His lead looks to be down to around 12 seconds. 12:13:12
Kipsang's lead is now up to 33 seconds. Still just under an hour to go, so lots can happen. 12:11:48
The chase pack has broken up now too. Just Stephen Kiprotich, Abshero and Mutai out on their own, chasing Kipsang. 12:08:26
Kipsang nearly missed his drinks stop. He had to double back to grap a drink. 12:07:10
Emmanuel Mutai has now dropped off from the chase pack. 12:05:25
63:15 at half way for Kipsang, confirming that he's on for 2:06:30 - two seconds inside the Olympic record. 12:04:29
Apparently this is officially the hottest day of the London Olympics. Luck would have it that the marathon would be held today! 12:03:50
But Kipsang's 59:57 at 20km still translates to 2:06:29 pace. 12:03:02
In Beijing four years ago, when the OR of 2:06:32 was set, Wanjiru went through 20km in 59:10. 12:02:16
Kipsang goes through 20km in 59:57 with the chase pack just 14 seconds behind now. 12:01:48
Hall's US team-mate Abdi Abdirahman has also pulled up now. 11:54:50
Ryan Hall of the USA has pulled up 11:52:58
Kipsang has really cranked up the pace with a 14:11 for the last 5km! Suddenly they're on course for 2:06:29, which would break the OR. 11:47:05
Wilson Kipsang's lead is now up to 16 seconds. 11:42:34
France's Abraham Kiprotich, a 2:08:35 runner this year, has pulled up. 11:41:17
The streets of London are packed for this marathon. Can't recall ever seeing so many spectators for an Olympic marathon. 11:39:43
Just for reference, Wilson Kipsang also goes by the name Wilson Kiprotich. 11:39:03
We're 12km in, and Kipsang is making a move. Abshero is his nearest chaser. 11:38:23
Of the Ethiopian contenders, Ayele Abshero and Getu Feleke are near the front. Dino Sefir is a bit further back. 11:37:01
Still a large group of around 35 athletes strung out at the front. All three Kenyans are there. 11:35:38
de Almeido is now back with the pack. Kipsang, the winner in London earlier this year, is now leading. 11:34:35
de Almeida has gone through 10km in 30:38, which is 2:09:15 pace. No one as yet is tempted to go with him. 11:32:33
de Almeida set his PB of 2:12:03 earlier this year, but he's currently going at sub-2:10 pace. 11:31:21
Franck de Almeida of Brazil is trying to push the pace at the front. He has a lead of around 10-15m all of a sudden. 11:21:09
All three Kenyans - Abel Kirui, Wilson Kipsang and Emmanuel Mutai are all near the front. 11:17:42
No big moves yet as it's still early days. They go through 5km in 15:23, which is just under 2:10 pace. 11:17:18
It's pretty warm in London today, currently about 22°C and set to get warmer. 11:10:56
They'll do one short lap which sees them go past Big Ben, followed by three long laps. 11:06:13
And they're off! 105 athletes will be running the Olympic marathon today. 11:01:16
We're here on The Mall and the athletes are on the start line, ready for the men's marathon 10:54:06
Welcome to the final day of the London 2012 Olympics 10:53:48
